Gordon takes checkers at Darlington
I think I may make this a permanent Monday post as a Hendricks Motorsports team won Sunday’s Dodge Avenger 500 at Darlington. Jeff Gordon took the checkered flag this time at Sunday’s race giving Jeff his 3rd win and a total of 8 wins for Hendricks this year, including all of the Car of Tomorrow races.
Gordon probably did not have more than a quart of water left to cool his rock solid Hendricks racing engine when he crossed the finish line as he had been spewing a plume of steam for the last 20 or more laps of the race hoping the engine would last. This year has to be the epitome of luck for Jeff, as everything he and his crew have done has ended up being the perfect plan.
Denny Hamlin, winner of Friday’s Busch race, finished second behind Gordon and was only a few laps away from taking the sweep for the weekend. Dale Earnhardt Jr. did well even after he was found with illegal parts on his car. I am sure Tony Eury Jr. will be getting a few weeks off for that snapfu.
Till the next Pit Stop…..
