Pit Stop Report

As most of the field was crashing behind them, Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin fought hard in the green-white-checkered finish, only to end in another disappointment for Martin as Harvick inched him out for the win. A Busch series win Saturday and the Daytona 500 win made for a very successful weekend for Harvick and a continuation of his great year in 2006.

Mr. Class Act himself, Mark Martin, finished second for Ginn Racing and the Army boys, was probably the crowd favorite at the last restart, but couldn’t pull it out in the end.

Tony Stewart now doubt had the car to beat though. With three quarters of the 2007 Daytona 500 behind him, fresh off a comeback from back of the pack due to some pitroad mistakes, Tony Stewart had fought his way back up to leading the race again and looked as if though no one may touch him.

Wrong! So goes the luck you need at the larger restrictor plate races and Tony found himself parked in the garage and in 43rd place. Along with it the dreams and hopes of taking all three races at Speedweek and a chance to lead the points early in the season.

Stewart seemed to get a little loose and as he slowed to try to save it, Kurt Busch finished the job and both drivers were done and headed for the garage.

Overall, the race was as expected, GREAT! This race sets the tone for the rest of the season and if it is in any comparison then NASCAR is in for its most successful year yet.
