Montoya wins first Nextel Cup race
Juan Pablo Montoya took the checkers at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. The 110 lap event was taken over by Montoya with seven laps to go, as he passed Jamie McMurray and never looked back, although he kept looking at his fuel gauge hoping he would make it to the end.
Another strong finish for Clint Boyer as he finished fourth and is Ninth overall in the Nextel Cup point standings. Jeff Burton finished third to break a bad streak of thirty something finishes making him a contender again for the Nextel Cup championship.
This has to be the tough part of the schedule for these teams as they have traveled from Michigan to Sonoma, Ca and are now heading back to New Hampshire, all in a two week period. But I would do it to be part of a NASCAR team!
Till the next Pit Stop…..
