Same old song and dance
NASCAR handed out the punishments for Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson for infractions on their car during inspection last Friday. Besides being sidelined for the day, They were each fined $100,000, 100 drivers points were taken away and the crew chiefs were sent home for six weeks. Barring an appeal from the teams the crew chiefs will be able to come back the week of the Michigan race on August 18th.
This is the same penalty that was handed out for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s infraction. I applaud NASCAR for at least being somewhat consistant. But if they want to get rid of the cheating and pushing the rule book to the last stitch, then NASCAR has to put the hammer down and put it down hard.
Send the driver, crew chief, pit crew and the owner home for that weekend and the next two after that. Then see if there are any more infractions after that. That would effect everyone involved, unfortunately it would hurt the fans too. But that is my suggestion to NASCAR to fix the cheating and rule bending. What so you guys think? Leave me a comment and tell me how you feel about the subject.
Till the next Pit Stop…..
