Top 10 Suprises
When you look at the top 10 in the Nextel Cup points leader board there are a few surprises that I did not expect, the first being Mark Martin. Martin is continuing his retirement years by racing his butt off and he is being rewarded with first place in points. Though he will most likely not be there after the Bristol race.
Second to seventh are guys that you expect to be there. Tony Stewart finally popped into the top ten after his miserable race at Daytona. The eight spot is Denny Hamlin, not a real big surprise, as he finished third in points last year, but that he is only in his second year and doing so well again.
Spot number nine goes to Clint Boyer who just keeps it going. He finished seventeenth last year and is bound and determined to better that this year. At the rate he is going he will find the chase and finish with a rewarding year.
Tenth place belongs to Carl Edwards. Edwards seems to be back in the groove he was in two years ago as Jack Roush gave him back his crew chief after yanking him last year. With teammate Matt Kenseth and him in the top ten watch out for the Roush boys to keep it together and move closer to the top.
Dale Earnhardt Jr sitting in 27th place is a big shocker. JR must get it going to make the chase this year. Earnhardt’s ex-teammate Michael Waltrip is still in negative land after the Daytona fiasco and having not qualified for a race since. I hope Waltrip can get it together soon and finish out the year in style.
Till the next Pit Stop…..
